North Middle Winter Athletics - Spectator Code of Conduct
We would like to provide you with a few reminders regarding Spectator Code of Conduct at our athletic contests. Spectators are an important part of the game and community spirit; as such, spectators shall at all times conform to accepted standards of good sportsmanship and behavior.
Please see the following excerpt from the NYSPHSAA Section VIII Code of Conduct for Coaches, Participants, Spectators and Administrators in Interscholastic Competition
The Spectators are expected to:
1. Conform to accepted standards of good sportsmanship and behavior.
2. Respect officials, coaches, and players and extend all courtesies to them.
3. Refrain from stomping feet, disrespectful remarks or gestures, calling player numbers and the use of noisemakers.
4. Be quiet when players need total concentration such as a free throw in Basketball or a serve in Volleyball for every athlete
5. Obey the regulation of the building and grounds and those who do not conform should be brought to the attention of the building authorities.
6. Understand that schools are responsible for the conduct of their respective spectators, whether at home or away.
7. Any spectator(s) who acts in a disruptive, abusive, or unsportsmanlike manner who may cause the contest to be suspended or the spectator removed from the site that would be disqualified. That spectator(s) would not be allowed to attend the next contest. Spectator(s) would not be allowed to be on site or involved in any capacity (timekeeper, scorekeeper, etc.). Failure to comply will result in additional sanctions being leveled against this spectator(s) by the school district as well as Section VIII.
