ELC:
ELC stands for English Learning Center. ELC is a class where students who may benefit from extra ELA support are able to cultivate and strengthen their reading, writing, speaking, listening, and thinking skills. The ELC supports students in their English and Reading classes through the use of supplemental materials, parallel lessons (which mirror and reteach English/Reading lessons), and even enrichment activities. Every ELC class looks different, depending upon the needs and interests of the students. Students may review skills and assignments from their English/Reading classes, practice analytical reading and writing using articles and mentor texts, polish grammar and vocabulary skills, and/or explore other student-identified needs and interests.
