NORTH MIDDLE’S VICTOR YANG FINISHES SIXTH IN THE NATION AT THE NATIONAL MATHCOUNTS CHAMPIONSHIPS, TEAM NEW YORK ARE NATIONAL RUNNERS-UP
Earlier this year, over 65,000 students from around the country competed in local and state Mathcounts competitions. That number dwindled down to the final 224 Mathletes, who were given an all-expenses paid trip to Washington, DC to compete in the National Mathcounts Championship. NMS’s own Victor Yang used both his mathematical talents and his level head to not only finish in sixth place, but also to help Team New York finish in 2nd place out of 56 teams (one per state, plus select territories). Coached by Dr. Boyt, team New York’s second place finish is their best finish since 1988!
